Day Camp Staff

Our staff are such an important part of the Willowgrove Day Camp experience! Ask our campers what they like best about Willowgrove Day Camp and it won’t be long before you hear the names of a counsellor or staff member.

Many of our counsellors and staff members have a long-standing history at Willowgrove that involved coming up through the ranks as campers, Counsellors-In-Training (C.I.T.), lifeguards, resource staff and supervisors. All have the following things in common:

  • They have a genuine interest in helping children

  • They understand the importance of not just delivering our programs, but also promoting the life lessons based on strong morals & values that help nurture the physical, spiritual, social and emotional growth of every camper

  • They went through an interview process and special training

  • They are committed to adhering to our code of conduct

Meet our Recreation Director, Maeyken!

Maeyken Jones started her camp career at Willowgrove’s overnight camp, Fraser Lake Camp, as a counsellor and lifeguard, working her way up to Assistant Director for three years. Outside of camp, she has worked with children and youth programs in churches, neighbourhood associations, and teaching aquatic leadership courses for the City of Kitchener and Guelph.

Prior to joining Willowgrove Day Camp, she worked as a Client Success Specialist for a software company located in Toronto which provides management tools for summer camps.

School Year Programs

Ever since my son finished camp last summer, he’s been asking “When can I go back to my camp?” I’ve already registered him for March Break Camp and again for this summer too! He LOVES “his camp” and can’t wait to go back!
